Yarn=Love

Sorry long time no post. I'd like to tell you I'll get better, but chances are, I wont.

I have come here today to admit something about myself to you all. I have a sick obsession with yarn and the ability to use a hook to create things. Crocheting. I'm addicted. Is there a Crocheter's Anonymous out there? Because I need to join.

There is some good news that comes with this sick obsession. People will buy the crap I make. No joke. I went to Lansing's Old Town to several little shops (which I lovingly call "Crap Shops" but I still love them) and found, to my surprise, several crocheted items. I'd like to add that I can totally make said items (and in some cases, in way better quality...).

Light bulb, on.

I can make money crocheting? Sick. They are fueling my addiction!

But I love it.

I'm even considering opening up an etsy page to share some of my creations. First I'd like to get your opinions on some of the crap I make :) So I'll post some pictures, and you can honestly tell me if you could see yourself  (or anyone for that matter) interested in purchasing anything. Or tell me what you would change about something to make it better :) I make a lot of my own patterns up so I totally have the power to do so.

For any of you who share my love of yarn, Joann's is having an online yarn clearance sale. FYI.

Now pictures!

Hi! It's me and I'm modeling a head band. I like head bands because I don't like my hair to get all yucky. This could also be a hat. I have to figure out if I want it to tie in the back, or fasten by some other means. Next time, I could also make it one piece. I like the flower, but it's not a deal breaker.

Here it is again... not on.

Hahahaha... coasters!

This is a "doily" snowflake. I need to put some "stiffy" (yes it's really called that) on it to stiffen it up. I have this idea in my head to use fishing line and have three or four of these together with a suncatcher crystal to weigh it down that you can suction cup to the window. I don't know if that makes sense to you, but I'll post pictures when I am done!

Okay, so this is my unfinished Angel. Her body didn't get hard enough so she needs to be "stiffied" again. She also will get hair and some decorations in her dress. Again, pictures will be coming of the finished project!

Another snowflake :)

I made several of these scarves for Alicia's wedding. I love the pattern and they are really cute!

It's actually a lot cuter in person. Just a little wristlet wallet. I like the button :)

This is my pride and joy. I made the pattern myself and it took some brainstorming, let me tell you what. I still need to line the inside with fabric (because yarn stretches and has holes...) but I LOVE this bag. When I get better at it, I plan on using some cable stitches and maybe doing different colors/sizes.

In addition to all of these things, I made some (really cute!) scarves for Christmas presents. I loved them because they were extra long and I put pockets in the end to stick your hands in. I plan on making one of those for myself in the near future.

I may or may not have made lingerie for my friend Alicia's wedding, but that's a little inappropriate for the blog ;)

I'll update with some finished pictures later on :)

  1. I love these - my faves are the bag (of course) and the scarf. BUT the headband will look ADORABLE on my girls.

I can't wait to hear if you actually do sell a few. My oldest has a 5th birthday coming up - I may need a headband and scarf from you!

  2. I have seen headbands like this before, fastened in the back by a large button like the one on the wristlet. Really cute! Last fall, when I was in Chicago, we saw headbands like that in some of the little boutiques and they were going for like $30... :)

Also, you should consider getting a table at a bazaar next fall/winter! You will sell TONS of stuff and it will give you lots of time to make things to sell. I went to a huge bazaar in Chesaning about a month ago with my mother-in-law, and there were a few tables with really cool crocheted/knitted things there. Actually, she bought me a pair of gloves as a Christmas gift (amazing knitted ones) and paid $25 for them. So, there is definitely opportunity out there for some extra income!

  4. Sandy, I would totally buy that headband with a flower if you made it a whole hat. And possibly that purse. You should definitely make an Etsy page!
